Henry started learning Karate when heˇ¦s a high school student in Hong Kong. He was motivated to join Karate-do by his best friend who had a brown belt at that time. Henry was practiced in Seibukan (Tai Po Dojo), also known as Nippon Seibukan Hard Contact Karatedo. Seibukan is Okinawa Goju style. After a year and a half, Henry obtained the green belt level.

In 1991, Henry came to Canada to study and he joined Steveston Karate Club (now known as Uchiage Kai) in Richmond, British Columbia, which is directed by Shihan Takeshi Uchiage. Henry was promoted to brown belt after a year of training with Shihan Uchiage.

In 1993ˇ¦s fall, Henryˇ¦s family was immigrated to Canada and settled in East Vancouver area. Henry joined Canada Seiwa Kai Vancouver Shibu Dojo in 1994 under the direction of Shihan Alan Chan. In late 1997, Henry got his back hurt from work and stopped Karate training since then. After several years of recovering, Henry came back to the Seiwa Kaiˇ¦s family in late 2003.

In December 2004, Henry achieved his Shodan (1st Dan).
